Are SAT scores sent to high school?

DC will take the SAT this summer, and I want to know if I can opt-out of having these scores sent to the high school where they attend. This will not be the test given each year for no charge by the county.

I don’t think so. There’s definitely no option for that online. Maybe contact the college board and ask for an exception? Our school’s CCO always knows the scores before we do.

The College Board website says scores are sent to your high school and district automatically, and doesn’t mention any way to opt out. You could contact them to ask, but I’m guessing not.

They must be. All of my kid's SAT scores showed up in Naviance (takes a month or two, but they are all there).

At our school you have to request that they be removed from the transcript. So maybe that is what you want?

Our school too (Prince William county public schools.) It annoyed me because the score that showed up on my kid's transcripts was one that we signed him up for and paid for--it wasn't one taken through the school. He also took the ACT (we also registered him and paid for it, not the school) and scored significantly higher on the ACT, but the SAT score was what was showing up on the transcripts.
We requested that the SAT score be removed, but of course we have no way of knowing what was actually sent to the colleges he applied to (he is a current high school senior.)

It’s so annoying when schools include SAT scores on the transcript. Even the College Board recommends against it, so that scores aren’t sent to schools that the student doesn’t want them sent to.

PP - yes, I agree it’s not a good thing. I think a lot of people aren’t aware of this - we weren’t until spring semester of junior year when we requested a transcript for a summer program. My daughter had a very good score at the time but we still wanted the option of maybe not submitting to some reach schools and then we hoped she’d get a higher super score with a second test in August (which she did). We were frustrated that we were not told. We still had issues in the new school year. Just seems better to make the request early or at least make sure folks know it’s the default.
