Arlington and Mclean Arguments

Anonymous
There seems to be an agenda against Mclean judging by all the recent posts in the forum, seems like an arlington parent/parents is generating controversy to defame or disinterest parents. I have no skin in either but just let the kids play and stop trying to divide or put out false information about programs. At the end of the day we hope that clubs can develop good players no matter what club they are at, that is why the USMNT is full of European based players because the culture in the US is horrible, this forum is a great example.

If you want to see for yourself instead of rely on a forum go ahead and do so.

Both Mclean and arlington lost many coaches and are both rebuilding each other, who knows how they may end up in a few years.

I think the FVU debacle has turned parents off on McLean, and you're seeing it unearthed here. I also would not be surprised if a few former (or current) McLean coaches are on here posting because of everything that has transpired this year. I am sure McLean will get back to what it once was, at least on the girls side (boys were never McLean's strength), but its going to take some time given the number of kids moving to other clubs.

I’m a current McLean parent and I posted negative things about them. Not sure why you think it’s Arlington parents pretending. They have not developed our team, give them lackluster coaches who cancel practices and don’t sign them up for tournaments. Then spend the whole game just yelling

What happened to Arlington 2010? They made it to National playoffs last year?

Being serious. Not trolling. This team seemed to be strong last season. They were competing with high level teams in San Diego at ECNL nationals. I'm just curious as to what happened. They brought in players that strengthened the team.

I’ve heard this about the lower teams so I’m assuming that’s where your kid plays.

Lower boy teams have been horrible, so assume your child is on one of those teams. Development and coaching have been very bad, not to mention lack of success in the field. I know a number of players leaving, and it has nothing to do with the loss of ECNL (which is embarrassing for the club). I hope the club turns things around and 2024 is rock bottom.

I will say there are some bright spots on the girls side. Unfortunate the boys side destroyed the club.

That's unfortunate. Sorry to hear about that.

How was AD received by the team and parents in her first season as HC for the 2010G

Interesting. We had a similar experience. Not that bad, but very odd coaching choices and lack of focus on technical skills. We wanted the team to connect, but it felt cold and the coach never communicated with parents. I wonder if we had the same coach!

McLean and Arlington are locked in a forever deathmatch with each other with competing in youth soccer because of their proximity and both like to beat their chests all the time.

Here is some food for thought:

At higher socio-economic levels, you see stronger girls teams, but weaker boys teams if no recruiting from the outside is done.

At lower socioeconomic levels, you see a lot more boys talent and lesser girls participation in soccer in general.

Arlington is large enough to have pockets of both - Arlington's top boys talent mostly come from certain areas of the county where kids are out on soccer fields playing pickup with adults all the time.

What you do not see are younger girls wandering onto soccer fields playing with teenage boys or adults who are strangers.

So instead, parents hire private trainers for their daughters and sign them up for every program they can find, and get them on teams early training 11 months of the year.

Arlington is large enough to support soccer on both sides just by numbers alone, mclean is not.
