I'm trying to help an elderly relative on a very fixed income to sell their condo and go into a nursing home. Settlement company found a $12k lien from Unifund CCR Partners LLC which google tells me is a creditor (the kind that law firms negotiate settlements with).
Elderly relative has no clue what this is about. (Early dementia) Lien was entered in 2013. Court record doesn't give any details aside from judgment amount and date. Law firm is listed. What the heck am I supposed to do? |
Title company will help you with telling you what you need to do to clear the lien. Most likely the lien will have to be paid. Might be worth contacting a law firm that specializes in this area, they might have a standard quick negotiation/payment process that will expedite things. Key will be to make sure you get the lien release processed as quickly as possible once the amount is paid. |
In which state is the property located? |
