Kristi Noem shot a puppy for being untrainable as a hunting dog

The Guardian got an advance copy of her book where she details this.

Probably not great for inspiring VP to admit to this in an election year.

You really think this is a disqualifying event for her? I don't think Trump even has a dog.

"inspiring" was probably not what you intended.

And the kids get off the school bus and say "where's cricket?"

apparently none of them yells "what happened to the goat??!!"

For Trump is this disqualifying? No, but he’s a monster. I think most people, even non-dog people like myself, understand that it’s weird in this day and age to shoot your own dog for failing at its job. It’s not like it was eating someone, was it? It was just a hunting dog she didn’t feel performed well enough, so she shot it. That’s weird. That’s very weird. Some people like to lean too hard on the “I’m country, it’s different out here,” but she’s a governor and it’s not like she’s some poor country bumpkin who doesn’t have any other resources.

Or, you know, rehome the thing.

MAGA voters will love this. They feed to being cruel to defenseless people and animals.

Holy smokes, she shot the dog and then just decided might as well take the goat at while she was at it?

This is a thing where I'm from. It's horrible, but it exists.

She has to prove to MAGA that she is as much a psychopath and sociopath as any right wing man.

One thing that unites liberals and conservatives is a strong love for dogs. And, frankly, both groups are more loving toward dogs than their fellow humans.

This is actually really shocking. You put a puppy up for adoption, rather than shooting it. This isn't merely a "rural thing". She's missing a couple circuits.

I don't agree with this. Many MAGA people I know are huge dog lovers. Their relationship with their dog is their unspoken form of therapy (seriously). They are intensely attached to their dogs.

You don't shoot a puppy. You put it up for adoption. Only an abusive psychopath would shoot a puppy; the same person would happily shoot another person.

Most MAGAs I personally know would not relate to this.

This is some sort of ultra-MAGA Overton Window crap.

She is a joke. Complains about government spending, yet South Dakota lis supported by farm subsidies and an Air Force base.

It's more responsible than dumping, either outside or at a shelter. Taking care of the problem rather than sticking someone else with it.

JFC the dog was only 14 months old. What a psycho!

No, you take it to a shelter. A young, purebred pointer will be sitting pretty in Brooklyn going to town on a pup cup with some rich DINKs in a week.

I read the story. The dog, Cricket, sucked at hunting. Noem couldn't control her. Cricket got loose, attacked and killed several chicken belonging to another family so she shot Cricket. More recently her other dog Hazel died "in an accident". At some point you're just a shitty pet owner and should just stop owning dogs if you can't train, control them or protect them.
