Nanny share: how to search for good fit?

Anonymous
Hi folks,

First time parents here considering a nanny share and wondering how do folks assess whether it’s a good / safe fit for your kid?

The other family would host, and we don’t know the family personally. What questions would you ask? How would you assess if it’s a safe environment given that there may be other people coming thru the home besides the nanny? Do people just sort of role the dice or are we foolish to consider such an arrangement? 🎲😅

If the other family is exclusively hosting then it sounds more like they will run an unlicensed home daycare. Are they finger printed, background checked?

Can you attend for a few days as a trial period? If they say no to that, I would walk, personally. Nanny shares are great but also imo very high risk if you don’t know the people involved.

Ditto to PPs. Nannyshare turns into illegal daycare real quick

Btw are you aware you are supposed to pay taxes and give nanny a w2?

I would not do a nanny share. Too many issues.

It’s a much better option than daycare.
