Who did your colonoscopy?

Anonymous
My PCP referred me to a colorectal surgeon for my colonoscopy. DH is saying he’s never heard of anyone besides a GI doc doing colonoscopies. Now I’m wondering if I should find someone else.
BTW, DH is also a physician but in an unrelated field.

My regular GI doctor has done my several colonoscopies. I don’t think he’s a colorectal surgeon.

Board certified GI doctor

my GI doc performs my colonoscopies. But colorectal surgeon practice also performs colonoscopies. I prefer to have the GI do the colonoscopy and the surgeon do the surgery.

Colorectal surgeons do not do nearly enough volume (because they only do them to fill in if they dont have surgeries) to be as adept as GI. I would prefer a board certified GI doctor.

by the same token, which doc do we see for a hysterectomy consult - an ob-gyn or a gyn-surgeon?

Roto-Rooter.

Well, that's who we had to call after the drains clogged after the colonoscopy prep.

Gyn-surgeon. Specifically I went to a surgical gyn oncologist.

Do they give appointments if you don't have a diagnosis but are seeking answers via consult?

Could you recommend your surgeon please.
