If you have shoulder pain and mobility issues, how do you sleep?

Also, what have you found to help with your pain?

Well, for me the way I sleep causes my shoulder and rotator cuff issues so I'm no help there. What works for me to help heal it is cupping, scraping and dry needling.

I used a wedge pillow to help with shoulder pain.

I’ve been trying one I got on Amazon. The pressure seems to really bug me. I’m sleeping horribly.

I’m sorry. I used it with a soft, smaller pillow for my head. The high angle relieved the pressure on my shoulder but I also kept my arm in a sling all night as I healed. I think I also propped my arm up with other pillows to keep my shoulder comfortable.

What is this "sleep" you speak of?

Seriously, though: I toss and turn all night, pretty much every night. Have for years. I can take drugs to knock me out, but they lead to a massive pain increase/functionality decrease, often leading to pain med prescriptions and withdrawal cycles, and then insomnia, and then I'm back at the start.

If it’s frozen shoulder the pain will pass in about 18 months.

I am going on nearly two years with shoulder pain which flares while I sleep. It first started after a bout with Covid. It is ok during the day but then at night while I lay on the opposite side it becomes excruciating. Any ideas??

I use a pillow under the arm that bothers me. But I wonder if a pregnancy pillow could help you. One of those pillows that is U shapes and supports your whole body. By taking pressure off the opposite side of your body, it could lessen the pressure on your shoulder area.

Get a diagnosis for your shoulder - could be tendinitis/bursitis, frozen shoulder, a tear, etc. most likely PT will be needed and will help in some time. Sometimes they recommend a cortisone shot. I have had a lot of shoulder issues and sometimes just needed to sleep on the other side. Sleeping in a recliner works for some people.
