Parking When You Live on a Busy Street

Anonymous
If you have a house on a double yellow line road or even a single yellow line road, where do your guests park when you have parties, assuming all of the cars can’t fit in your driveway?

I've never lived in a house like that, but when I've been to parties at houses like that, they hired valets to park all the guests cars (I don't know where the valets take them...)

Honestly, if hiring valets isn't an option, I might rent a hall and host my parties there instead of my own house.

On a nearby side street.

We can fit a few people into our driveway and others park on a nearby side street. It's honestly not much different from parking down the block in terms of distance.

Would have preferred to have bought on a quieter street, but we couldn't afford everything we wanted!

We live on one of these but it really isn’t busy as there are two busier roads close to us. We have about 3 spots extra or 2 XL SUV spots in our driveway even if our car is in it, but most people park on the street or on the side streets and walk. Our home also has a walkway that goes directly to a dead end street so I usually tell people to park there and just walk to our house.

No one has ever had their car dinged or broken into or anything. It really isn’t a big deal! I love where we live and love my street and area. People I know who live in very busy roads have their guests park on side streets and walk over.

We live on a single line yellow road in NW DC in a rowhouse. We don't have a garage or driveway! #shocking

Our neighborhood has less parking M-Fri during work hours due to nearby major employer + nearby schools.

If it's a weekend, then people have to park around the corner, but almost never more than a half-block away. Or better yet, they take an Uber or Lyft because they are going to have some drinks.
