Instagram posts of huge families

Anonymous
I don't know why my Instagram feed keeps sharing these insane posts of the mom with each of her 10 children walking by her one-by-one, as if there's some huge accomplishment? Usually they end with the announcement that surprise, there's another one on the way! Or weirdly announcing how old the mom was when she gave birth to each child?

Obviously there's some sort of audience for this, but I do not understand it. At all.

Some people have lots of kids. And some people share everything about their lives on social media. And sometimes there are people who have lots of kids and sharing everything about their lives on social media.

Social media algorithms are weird but sometimes eerily accurate. I get these fed to me as well...I'm guessing I get them because I want more kids or because (like you) I end up lingering on those posts in fascination/awe.

It's the algorithm. Avoid spending time on those videos and they will disappear. They show up randomly sometimes and I'm always weirded out so I scroll away quickly.

Im fascinated by big families! I only have one child, and I dont have instagram, but if I did im sure I would watch this content! Its just such an odd concept to me to have more than say 5 kids. How do they feed them? Where do they live? What type of activities do they do? Are the kids happy? I have so many questions. I dont know any of these families in real life, so I can understand that their might be a market to view from afar (and judge).

I keep getting these too! They’re literally just all standing in a line and saying how old they are or what their favorite food is, etc. Or they bizarrely give each other “haircuts” which was just buzzing all the hair off. Except of course, the one little girl who wags her finger “no.” After that, I started to try to block them when they popped up as it’s a bit creepy to me and I’m not interested in supporting it in any way.

It certainly is an accomplishment to raise such a large family. If you don't like the content don't click it. It wouldn't be of interest to me, but good for them and apparently some people want to watch it.

Most posts here consider 3 an enormous effort.

The algorithm is feeding it to you because you keep looking.

I click on them because I’m curious how they
afford them.

The irony of your last statement

What a climate change impact, would be my thought.

I get these too but don't linger on them and don't follow any accounts like this.

I think the algorithm is kind of dumb and if it pegs you as a mom (in my case, correct) it feeds you lots of different "mom" content to see what you'll like. So momfluencers, including these huge families. I also think these videos tend to get more viral attention generally, so you're more likely to get them even if you never look at stuff like this. They are just like "lots of people like this, it fits in the mom bucket, this user is a mom."

I have never found Instagram's algorithm to be particularly accurate in terms of giving me what I want in terms of content. Sometimes they get it but mostly it's a no. They are good at targeting me with fashion ads though.

It is definitely an accomplishment to raise a large family, provided they are all well-cared for. I sure as hell couldn't do it.
