Pre-prom food for 20 ideas

Previous pre events she's been to have ranged from chick-fil-A trays to dining room sit down dinners. I don't have space for formal seating at one table but could have multiple seating areas. I'm looking for more of meal rather than just appetizers or snacks (although probably need a couple of those too). Ideas for something nice? (DD would love steak included.)

Is this just a pre-party or are they are having dinner at your home? We are having a very informal light snacks with pictures pre-party then the kids are going out to dinner.

This is the pre prom dinner.
Don’t know why I didn’t think of sushi — that’s a great idea. And someone else makes it — yay!

I’m up for either cooking or catering.

Whole beef tenderloin(s) would work for the steak, and can feed a crowd. Slice thin-ish before serving

You could add a nice couscous veggie salad (this is a favorite): https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/collections/delias-summer-collection/roasted-vegetable-couscous-salad-with-harissa-style-dressing

And some kind of roasted veg: examples- sweet potatoes fries/chunks, Brussels sprouts, tri colored carrots, baked asparagus with lemon and parmesan, etc

How about another option for kids who can't/don't eat fish?

Sliders or Chicken nuggets? Pizza Rolls?

I could offer sliders with the beef tenderloin. I’m trying to not have kiddie food.

So instead of going to a restaurant, like tradition, youre dining room is the restaurant and youll have seating, dishes, and space for 20 teens in your house?

Are you on a budget? Asking parents to contribute?

8d go with catering - no shopping, no prep, they're used to serving/prepping for a crowd, easy for you, and it's not homemade (sorry. But not everyone will like you're cooking).

Offer an (optional) sauce for the beef tenderloin. That will seem elegant (to them
