How much weight do you guys give to US News rankings of high schools?

As a parent, just adding, it's a good school.

I think that CPA is a great school when it works for you kid. If your kid is ESOL, SPED or has many other forms of learning issue it doesn't work. It is easy to get great test scores if you eliminate all the students who traditionally do not do well on standardized testing.

It's a great school, and it's nice to see that a lottery based school can out rank ERHS, with pretty high admissions criteria.
On the other hand, the kids that attend aren't representative of the county - only the families with the work flexibility to get their kids there and back and can navigate the hot mess of the charter school lottery process will be considered for CPA. That and CPA holds 35% for kids in the local CP area, which tends to be higher income.

More than half of the student body at ERHS are comprehensive students. If the ranking was only based on the STEM cohort it would be much higher.
