We accepted an offer for our home and are scheduled to close soon. We cannot physically be present at the closing. Do you think we need to find a real estate lawyer to represent us? How would we go about doing this on short notice (closing in two weeks)?
There are no issues with the house or the buyers (so far), and no contingencies. |
Ask the settlement attorney whether you need to be present. Sellers don’t usually need to be there and you should be able to sign everything in advance. Buyers if they can’t be there can be required to have a real estate lawyer sign on their behalf. |
I bought and sold a house last year. Everything was done via mobile notary. |
Why can't you close virtually? Review and sign the documents in advance. |
We did everything electronically (virtually). I though in person was obsolete. |
