Anyone have positive/negative experiences with any of these three kitchen cabinet-makers sold at Home Depot? Is there a big difference in price/quality between the three?
Thank you! |
We have Kraftmaid - 3 years later they have held up great and we've been very happy with them. We got them at Just Cabinets in Frederick - slightly cheaper. |
I have Kraftmaid 6+ years. Love them, they've held up great.
I got a quote at just cabinets in Frederick. I took the quote to Home Depot who matched it (as is their policy + 10% I think). We ended up at Home Depot because they had some free items with the order (sink cabinet and dishwasher) |
Sounds like you had a similar Home Depot trip as I did last week. American Woodmark is the Home Depot line. I got the impression (from reading the sign with the starting price per linear foot) that it was cheaper than the other two. Some of the price difference is prestige (name brand vs. "store brand"); some is probably quality. You should probably check Lowes too - the handy individuals I know have recommended Lowes over Home Depot for cabinets. |
All three brands are sold in Home Depot and Lowes under a variety of names. I've been in the business for 22 years and know each of the manufacturers products quite well. KraftMaid has the greatest variety of choices and customization, although Thomasville (MasterBrand/Schrock) is generally a close second. American Woodmark has fewer choices, yet covers the most popular door-styles, options and finishes without the premium price (savings of 15% are typical). The quality of all three lines is roughly equal depending on the features you purchase.
My recommendation---pick the product you prefer and watch HD and Lowes for the best deal. I bought a fully loaded, top of the line KraftMaid set-up for my basement bar (as large as most kitchens) as roughly a 20% discount last winter. I could have purchased Woodmark for even less, when you factor in free options/cabinets/finish upgrades. |
