I’m in charge of arranging a gathering at a coffee shop/cafe in NW DC for 5 elderly relatives who are visiting. Here are the criteria I’ve been given:
(1) parking on premises (2) clean and nice (3) not usually super noisy in the afternoon I’ve lived in VA for about a year but have a toddler and honestly I don’t get into DC much at all. I looked online and it’s hard to tell which places have parking (I typed in “with parking” and it gives me places where people say no parking”) Any suggestions? TIA |
That's a tall order (no pun intended). There is a paid lot on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown where folks could park - you would then have multiple cafes within a block or two. The lot is either part of or next to the CVS lot, between O and P Streets I think. |
Compass Coffee in Spring Valley meets all the criteria and they have great coffee! |
I would pick a hotel that has valet parking and a cafe in it, most of the nice hotels have a coffee shop.
Otherwise I would drive to Falls Church. |
This is OP. I will check out compass coffee.
It is a tall order (haha) but they are set on this. It is a long and convoluted story how they even got to this ask. I just gave up trying to follow and said I would do what I could to help. They aren’t actually here to visit me, it’s to visit the area for a specific reason. I will see them briefly but I am the only one they know who lives in the area which is how I got tapped for the job 🤣 |
Junction Cafe in Friendship Heights/Chevy Chase next to Clyde's |
And the Bluestone Lane next door is also really nice. |
There is a Starbucks at Cathedral Commons on Wisconsin Ave, with parking underground. |
Not a lot of seating space, though, not for five people to relax and talk. And my elderly relative is completely stymied by trying to navigate the underground garage for Cathedral Commons. Compass would be better, with surface parking and more comfortable seating for groups. |
Tatte is now open near the Wegman’s on Wisconsin. Tons of parking. Great coffee and atmosphere. |
+1 |
Open City at the National Cathedral. Plenty of (underground) parking and lots of nice spaces to sit indoors and out |
Thanks for the great suggestions! I knew DCUM would come through!
