I am so beyond done interviewing. Can’t take it anymore.

Unfortunately, all of us contractors got laid off our company a year ago and I’ve been struggling to find work ever since. I’m in recruiting and the market has been AWFUL. I’ve done some freelancing on and off but had to part ways with a client a few months back. So, my funds are dwindling and so is my hope for finding something.

I’ve interviewed at so many places. They “love” me but then ghost me. Cancel interviews before I even interview. Gotten offers but then they lost the contract so that they can’t bring me on. Or, my one of my favorites, didn’t get the budget approved from HR AFTER they extended the offer. Went with someone else cheaper. You name it. It’s happened to me.

Today, I got rejected after the final interview because I adhered to my company’s protocol. The interviewer asked about escalating with an unresponsive hiring manager at my previous company. I told her this specific example that this requisition was for the Senior Vice President. I documented many weekly, sometimes multi-weekly attempts via email to contact the SVP. Had to eventually rope in my manager; this was the protocol because he was so senior within the company. Welp, they said they loved me and only had “one concern”. They were concerned that I just didn’t call the SVP directly, so they passed. Maybe because I’m in it I think that’s such a dumb reason to pass.

I’m so over interviewing. I’m even more over applying and creating a gazillion workday profiles. I’m over recruiters reaching out to me just to ghost. I’m so over it ALL.

I guess I’ll have to do Uber to cover my bills shortly.

I am truly at my wits end.

That is a dumb reason to reject you, OP. Sorry that you're suffering through this.

I don't think it was the true reason. When they give reasons like that either the job was a ghost job or someone plainly didn't like you and they need to CTA with a BS reason. It's a terrible market right now, OP; I'm going through the same thing and genuinely wish you a good job with kind people and a great salary.

Normally I would agree but that’s the feedback they gave to the headhunter, who then relayed that feedback to me, so I believe that’s true.

How long have you been on the market for? I’m starting to feel like I’m horrible at my job, therefore unhireable, so hearing those kind words is greatly appreciated right now <3

Uber isn't a bad idea. One of my friends does this when he is in-between jobs. It's definitely better than going on unemployment.
