At what age do kids stop wearing leggings like the cat and jack ones--e.g. leggings with stars or rainbows on them? |
If you're super hot or super fat you can get away with anything. |
My DD phased those types of leggings out in third grade. Solid -- and particularly more "athletic" -- leggings, though, are going VERY STRONG in 4th! |
Do you realize this thread is about elementary schoolers? |
Yeah, I'd say 2nd grade is the end of when you see the printed ones. But then it just moves to solid and athletic. |
I also have a 4th grader and agree. However, there are still some kid pattern leggings that are cool, and there are some pattern leggings that looked too babyish a few years ago. So, individual kid preferences play a role too. And leggings are worn with boxy tees or sweatshirts now. No more dress and leggings combos and no too-small t-shirts. |

70? |
Agree with around 4th grade - my DD is in 5th and doesn't wear patterned leggings anymore. She does have one tie dye pair that she likes though. Also, flares and straight leg leggings are her favorite. |
If the kid likes them, they can wear them however long they want. Period. |
This seems right. My 8 year old prefers jeans and flare leggings now, but wears plain leggings and a few select print ones still (stripes, animal print, 1-2 unique prints from Princess Awesome). It is notable which girls her age still wear little kid prints. Not a bad thing, they just stand out. |
Girls still wear patterned ones at my kid's middle school. DD is in 8th grade (13) and has some with small flowers, or subtle glitter.

I agree, but the insecure mothers won’t have it. Uncool pants? The horror! |
