New patient form question

Anonymous
Is it normal for the form at the pediatrician's office for your newborn baby's first appointment to ask the child's pronouns, gender identity, and sexual orientation? Because mine did and I'm not that conservative, don't get me wrong, but we're talking about a literal newborn here. How do you even answer that for a newborn? I left that part blank. Is there like a mandate that they need to include those questions on the new patient form even for newborn babies, or is my pediatric office unusual in this regard?

Time for a new office.

That for is for EVERYONE. Move on. It does apply to some kids below everyone.

I would laugh very hard. But nothing beats an excellent pediatrician, so I don't care about the rest. My 13 year old's serious auto-immune disease was first suspected by her pediatrician, who took her symptoms seriously and sent her promptly to an excellent specialist.

Focus on what's important, OP.

I'd say it's high time you found yourself a new pediatrician's office, one that understands that a newborn baby isn't there to make a political statement but to receive the best care and a warm welcome into this great big world.

It is just a standard form. It might ask if she is menstruating too. It does not mean they are really looking for an answer.

In their rush to keep up with the latest fads and political correctness, they've forgotten good old common sense. You should want a physician with common sense.

It's probably just their standard intake form, so it goes to a newborn, and it goes to a 12 year old. Just skip or write TBD. This is not a real problem.

I would assume its a general intake form and that form is used from 1 day-18 years old. Stop trying to find offense in everything and anything.

You just ignore it and move on. My kid’s file lists his marital status, lol. Obviously not every question applies to every patient.

Is this the standard intake form at all pediatric offices now?

Exactly, why is OP choosing to get offended? Don't you have a newborn to worry about?

No

They don't have different forms for different ages. You can always write N/A.
