Simple Highlights/Balyage at home

Anonymous
I have light brown hair (no gray) and want to add a few highlights around my face. I'd like to go the balyage route. I'm good with my hands and comfortable with the technique, but not sure what product to use. I would prefer a more professional dye like they sell at a beauty store, but not sure what brand or type - Wella? What do you recommend?

OP here, looking to go from light brown to blonde for highlights

I do my own paint-on highlights and use Wella color and Wella lightening powder (bleach) and Wella developer (20%). I also tone with Wella color (also 20% developer). Then if I need more toning (because I'm prone to brassiness), I do a silver demi with a conditioner instead of developer. I also use Olaplex 3 once a month and am liberal with Moroccan oil (or any argan oil).

Back when I did balayage at home, I used Clairol bleaching powder and Redken shades EQ for toning. I'm brassy and mixed two different shades (9V + 9 NB). Found on Amazon.

you can try to look up other examples, sometimes stylists share before/after with the shades formula
