Wanting to leave Shady Grove

Anonymous
Hi everyone! I’m contemplating leaving SG and am searching for a new doctor. I feel like I need more personalized care. After 3 rounds of failed IVF, I can’t do the same protocol and my doctor seems very stuck in his ways. What recommendations does everyone have? Bonus points if you’re 40 or older and have had success. Thank you so so much!

What is your diagnosis and stats, OP?

I was previously with Dominion Fertility, now I am at CCRM. I am almost 40 years old with DOR, been doing IVF for a few years. I never considered SG as I've heard if there's nothing wrong with you, SG would be fine as it's a one size fits all. That was not my case.

I was able to have success with DF after 3 egg retrievals and 2 FETs. But after having my baby, I went back to DF to try to have my 2nd, I had no luck with multiple ERs (either no eggs retrieved or embryos didn't even make it to day 3). So that's when I switched to CCRM Nova.

So far I had 2 cycles with CCRM, better results but no success yet. First cycle they were able to retrieve 3 mature eggs, all 3 made it to become blasts, but only 1 euploid. Unfortunately I had a Chemical. I am currently in my second cycle waiting for PGS results. I think Omnitrope helped me.

Comparing the 2, as someone with AMA and DOR, I would choose CCRM vs DF. Some of the reviews on CCRM were mixed, but so far I don't mind it. I like my assigned nurse and RE.

Do you think your second experience at DF was less successful bc of the recent changes they've put in place?

Potentially, but don't know for sure as I am also older the second time around with lower AMH. Maybe DF just doesn't manage AMA DOR patients as well.

I don't recall seeing my RE at ANY of my monitoring visits anymore (I only saw my RE at retrieval), unlike the first time around when I saw my RE once in a while during monitoring. Also, it's hard for me to gauge the quality of DF's lab in general. I read more positive reviews about CCRM's lab.

I had a baby at 43 using my own egg. I went to Columbia Fertility and saw Dr. Sacks. This was a couple of years ago, but he did all his own monitoring.
