I know we're late in planning this but our original plan fell through. We would like to spend 2 weeks away from home at the beach, with parents splitting their time between the beach and some remote work from the hotel or Airbnb. Ideally beach would be right at the doorstep, good food a must. Flights within 6 hours, preferably in central America. Budget is flexible but nothing too luxury. August seems to be hurricane season for that region...Any suggestions? Domestic destination also ok. |
Honestly, with those parameters I’d go to Miami Beach. (Could stay at the Loews, or one of the hotels with suites/kitchens like the 1 hotel, or I think the Hyatt) |
Do you have kids? Nowhere will be relaxing.
|
Are you allowed to work for overseas? I am not. |
Agree, what's the point of being so close to the beach if you can't read a book or take a nap because you can't take your eyes off kids for a second? Unless they are in high school |
Agree especially with your need for good food that Miami would be a good choice for you. |
Then parents would never do anything. It's never totally relaxing. |
A very active hurricane season is predicted for this summer due to the transition from El Nino to El Nina. What about a relaxing lake house in Maine instead? |
What is forecast for Costa Rica? Have only been in the spring. OMG, so beautiful and also a fairly easy destination. |
OP here. Two kids in elementary school, they'll need adults nearby but don't need much supervision as long as there's something to do.
Miami beach sounds like a good suggestion, will look into it. |
I thought of CR too but was really disappointed in the food when I went, and she said good food is a must. |
We’re going to Aruba, which is supposed to be outside of the hurricane zone. I think it will be hot but they say the trade winds temper the heat some. I think our direct flight is about 4 hours. |
Miami will be too rainy |
It will be the rainy season in Central America...
Maybe west coast of Mexico or even California? |
Bald head island? |
