My son asked for a perm. I told him that I have many hair products that he could try.
Do boys actually curl their hair??? I told DS my Dyson air wrap should work as a joke but he tried using it. |
yes, teen boys are into very curly/fluffy hair right now, the look is everywhere. Perms have made a comeback as a result, not sure the air wrap would produce the right effect but can't hurt to try? |
Does he have wavy or curly hair? He may be trying to make it less frizzy and more styled looking, if so. I follow the curly hair reddit and there are plenty of guys there trying to figure out their hair. |
My son has co-opted my old curling iron for his hair. |
kpop style influence |
There are worse things he could be trying to do. |
🤣🤣 very common., it is the style.
I’d rec getting him in with a good stylist or barber. |
Yes, some boys get perms. My teen son considered it after friends got them and tried curling irons and rollers first. I couldn’t believe he was sleeping in rollers but it happened. |
I think small rollers (hot or the old school foam) would hold better |
Oh yes, the broccoli head look. It’s popular now, maybe a tad bit passé.

It’s really ugly, but hey ….. |
Yup, it's a thing! My kid has wavy, nearly curly hair so it works for him, but he has at least one friend who has gotten a perm to achieve the look. |
My son complained to me that the curling iron doesn’t work. He was using my daughter’s flat iron. 😂 |
I was at my hair salon and was surprised to see a young man (looked to be 14-16 y.o.) getting a perm. When I asked my stylist about it, she said it is now very common. I guess it's a thing now... |
I was recently asked if my son uses a flat iron. He’s got very straight longer hair, but does not use any types of straighteners. |
