Recommend your dishwasher!

Ours has started shorting out and it occasionally leaks and some of the interior parts that are meant to support dishes are broken such that I can no longer fully use the bottom rack. I’m done.

I’m in the market for a new one and would love suggestions. My top priority is reliability. I need it to not break and not leak.

We love our Kitchenaid. Everyone we know that bought a Bosch (which is always recommended here) hates it.

We also love our KitchenAid. Only downside is that it does take forever to do a load. However, it runs quietly, does a great job cleaning the dishes (even if we don't rinse and SOME people aren't great about loading the dishwasher properly), the trap somehow doesn't get all gross and the interior doesn't get build up. Inherited it from previous homeowners five years ago, so it's 5+ years old.

I really like my Bosch. Very quiet. The 3rd rack utensil tray is pretty great.

We have a GE with the 3rd rack utensil tray and love it. Quiet and reliable. Zero complaints.

I don't like my Bosch, but it works fine. I hate that it doesn't have a heating element in it to dry the dishes. I didn't realize it when I bought it.

I wouldn't like that either! Didn't know that is an option.

We like our Bosch. Washes and dries well. Have to use the recommended soap or you have a bad time.

Miele is still going strong. I can't go back.

Bosch 800 series has Crystal Dry, which does heat/dry the dishes. We love ours. It’s been about 4 years and no issues yet. it It’s quiet and cleans well, even having used several different brands of detergent.

There is a filter at the bottom that you need to clean every so often, which is slight annoying, but worth it in my opinion.

I'll tell you what NOT to buy, a GE one.

I love my 800 series Bosch—it was seriously life changing. It’s probably about 10 years old now and still cleans everything perfectly.

No heating element in the bottom and dishes come out dry just fine—you have to load it properly and not block the vent. Nobody reads the manuals anymore.

Third rack is great but sometimes I do put the silverware baskets on the bottom if I have a lot of cooking utensils to wash.

I am the PP who wrote about not liking my Bosch without the heating element. FWIW, I read and followed all the directions on how to load, etc so I didn't do it wrong (thanks, though for making assumptions).

I have the Bosch 300 series from 2023; so if you are looking at Bosch you need to read through all of the models and the fine print and make sure you get what you want. They have models 100 through 800, and something called Benchmark. I am guessing the 800s have the heating element, as one of the other PPs posted about above. I'm still not very impressed with it. The previous dishwasher we had was Fisher & Paykel and it was much better but I wouldn't recommend it because it was very expensive and hard to fix.

My kitchenAid has one of these and agree, it comes in very handy. The best part is that you can remove half of it if you have larger items in the top rack. Our top rack also moves up and down, which is cool. I think that's pretty common on all dishwashers though.

I have a Cove, made by the same group which manufactures SubZero and Wolf appliances. It is very quiet and works well, but I can't attest to longevity as I have had it for only 10 months at this point. So far, so good.
