Girls jeans--HELP!

Anonymous
My 2nd grader wants ripped jeans, and I'm totally confused by jeans styles right now. She's very slender, and I think stretchy, skinny jeans would look best on her....but those are totally lame now? I don't understand jeans these days! Anyway, can someone send me some links to relatively fashionable jeans for a 2nd (almost 3rd) grader who's slender and small for her age. She says that her only requirement is that they have rips in the knees; other than that, she doesn't really care. I don't care much either, but I'd love for them to be relatively comfortable (e.g. not too stiff) and relatively fashionable (for a 2nd grader). Up until now, she's been all about joggers and leggings (and cared only for comfort, not for style), so this is her first request for jeans. Links and suggestions are appreciated.

In our house the issue with loose jeans is finding them where (to quote my 6th grader) "they aren't lose up top and tight on the bottom" aka girlfriend style. Anything that's actually straight through the hips ends up being pretty slim because my kids don't really have hips. That doesn't look really similar to the loose jeans style, where the hips are not generally that slim. Not sure if your second grader will care the way my 6th grader does, though.

We have better luck with bootcut, mostly because my kids hate too flared.

Go to Target - they have lots of kids styles that are "in style" in the Cat & Jack section... and they are pretty cheap, so you won't be stressed when the style changes.

She's in 2nd grade. It doesn't matter if they are "in style" or not. What matters is if she likes them and they are comfortable.

We buy kids jeans from Old Navy and H&M

I think OP just means she wants them to be in style in the sense that her kid will feel like she's wearing the "right" clothes. Which is what will make her daughter like them. Kids at this age mostly want to fit in and that's normal.

My 3rd grader loves these from Abercrombie Kids. She's very into flares. There are a couple of ripped-knee options.

Osh Kosh jeans fit my thin kid well, but I don't know if they come with rips.

My 2nd grader wants similar, but she's so thin that we've never found a looser-fit pair that didn't fall right off of her. She wears the Old Navy 'ballerina' super-skinnies. I find H&M runs narrower, if you can order a bunch to try? Have never had luck finding them in store.

Old Navy is good

My tall, narrow, slender daughter (10) just got a great pair of jeans from H&M (size 8/9). Wide, straight leg, paper bag waist.

Someone else posted the gap
