My Dog Ate My Cookies

Anonymous
I had 2 oatmeal walnut cookies (homemade) sitting on the end table with a small pour of Whisky. I, out of the ccornere of my eye, see the dog standing up at the table and 'mouthing'. I didn't see contact, but the cookies felt damp.

-Do you tell the dog bad doggy?
-Do you eat them?

Keep in mind- this dog spends most of her day licking her rectum.

I’d throw them away.

O use scolding if it’s after the fact - only makes sense if you catch them in the act. No use saying “bad dog” 30 minutes later.

I eat things most DCUMs would turn their nose up at but NO WAY would I eat a cookie my dog licked. Just no.

Good news, the dog did not eat your cookies!

I don’t know how people can live this way.

My dog is like my child and no way would I eat something she had licked.

As to discipline, moving forward I would make sure getting up on the table is off limits.

NO, that's disgusting!

If I really wanted them I’d just break off the damp area and eat it.

If I was desperate, I would wash them off with water, pat dry then re-heat in toaster oven.

I would learn not to put things where the dog could reach them and then walk away. You brought this on yourself and you're the one who needs to be scolded. Whether or not you eat them is up to you.

If there were raisins in them, you really dodged a bullet. My dog is a perfect little gentleman unless somebody leaves food unattended. If you walked away from a plate of cookies in my house, those cookies would have disappeared and the plate would have been licked clean.

Was it a small pour because you already drank the rest of the bottle and that’s all you had left in the glass? Whiskey isn’t what you drink with cookies. Kahlua and milk is what you drink with oatmeal cookies. Your dog saved you.
