Ques re Econ & Personal Finance self paced summer course -- how much time?

Anonymous
How much time do kids need to devote to this class typically? I understand it is self-paced, but I'm trying to see how much time students typically need.
Thanks.

2-3 hours a day. You can work ahead but don’t get behind.

Sorry - how many weeks is the class and can you start at any point in the summer?

My kid will be on a family trip and camp for 2 weeks. Can he start early in the summer to get it out of the way? Thanks

He can start as early as next month and can do the course from anywhere in the world with PE

How can they start it early? Do they send them a link in May?

My kid was less than 3 hours a day. It depended on the lesson but he had 14 days to do it and managed fine with other activities. Most people have more time in their schedule. Last year we got the welcome email on 5/31 and it started on the 6/5.

It started early in 2020 but I don’t think that’s the norm. My kid couldn’t start until the first week of June last year, IIRC.

Do kids do this to clear schedule in Hs for other class or what is motivation to do? On one hand I could see taking it to have it out of way if want to take another advanced core class, but guess counter argument is gives a “break” from other harder core classes if take during the year. Thoughts?

Is course known to be easier online and over summer? Do most take pass/fail or for a grade?

It’s a filler course FCPS mandates and not hard so doing it online either in summer or over the year frees up a class period for something a kid wants to take more.

Is it P/F or graded in summer?

It’s P/F. I don’t really understand why you would take it as a full year class. It’s a quick online course. Take something that interests you.

Maybe some students take the honor option to boost GPA? Honor option is not available in summer.
