Glasgow Middle School School Counselor Arrested for assault

Anonymous
Apparently the school counselor headbutted an 11-year-old boy and carried him out of the cafeteria. Unclear when the incident occurred, but the police began an investigation on April 16th.

Glasgow Middle School is the same place that in 2022 employed a school counselor that had been convicted of solicitation of a prostitute who was underage.

Yeah, I wonder what the circumstances were. Maybe it was a reasonable way to handle the student? Maybe not.

What’s headbutted?

The incident should have been caught on camera.

What happen to the kid??????????

Did anything happen to the kid? What are the consequences did he use the N word?

Was the student hurt or was it in jest?

DD's social studies teacher conducts a "ritual sacrifice" every year as part of the Aztec unit. All for laughs and visual memory, but... I bet some parents would be shocked if they found out. Kids fall over themselves to volunteer as the "victim".

According to news reports, the 11-year-old child called 44-year-old school counselor a “derogatory name”. The school counselor then headbutted the victim and proceeded to carry him out of the cafeteria.

Interesting that FCPS has not released a public statement.

Glasgow is a zoo with too many kids with too few inhibitions.

Ricardy Anderson tried to get her School Board colleagues to realize the school needs to be down-sized and they ignored her in order to tout their stupid "holistic" county-wide study.

The school counselor is supposedly the person in the school building with the most emotional training.

It really doesn’t matter what words the 11 year old student said, no words justify this. Saying something terrible is not okay, but it should go without saying that a school counselor should know better than to retaliate with physical aggression.

How can head-butting ever be a reasonable way to handle a student? Can you please give some examples when that would be considered appropriate?

FCPS is going to pay through the nose for this one

I'm envisioning the teacher bending down to swoop the student upside down on his shoulders. Sorry, but my first reaction is that he was trying a different way of getting the kid out of the cafeteria so he could go calm down somewhere, and that there was no violence intended.

But maybe I'm wrong.

If Glasgow would stop hiring criminals as school counselors, that would a start!

You are mistaken. They have gotten away with far worse and successfully avoid any financial penalties.

Yeah, I'm sure people are just lining up in droves to work at Glasgow. No doubt they turn down 10 great applicants for every new hire.
