I popped into the Dupont store from time to time, hope the staff can find other jobs quickly.
There are so many stores in DC, wonder how long the spaces will be vacant? Lots of vacant retail already in Dupont. Seems like the merger and rapid expansion was ill advised. Wonder if the Adams Morgan shop will be slow to get a new business? |
Aw man - their sour gummy candies were the best.
Also sad for the employees. |
Completely. It’s so abrupt; none of their employees had any insight or warning. Some came into work just to find out it was shutting down. Outrageous |
Wonder what will happen to all the food/perishables? Surprised they did not discount and sell off?

I guess union kitchen grocery will be happy |
Foxtrot is closing all US stores, not just those in DC. Very odd considering some of the DC locations opened less than a year ago. |
Not that different from being let go from any other job. So many reasons why it is ill-advised to give advance warning in that situation. |
Private equity and venture capital money moves quickly. They were not going to keep throwing good money at Foxtrot at these interest rates. https://www.cspdailynews.com/company-news/foxtrot-raises-100-million-fund-growth I also think they probably expected DC to rebound with RTO more quickly than actually materialized. |
Downtown store handed out some food to passersby. Assume more valuable non-perishables like wine may be auctioned/sold.
Dupont store always had people sitting with laptops. |
It's a market not a coworking space. Guess selling one latte to a guest camping out for hours is a bad business plan. |
The DC council should require business to get a closure permit. |
A closure permit…. Lol |
I never really understood the Foxtrot concept but will be sad to see all those stores in prominent locations vacant. |
+1. The one in Old Town is at the main intersection of King St and Washington St. Such a prominent location and yet such turnover. |
