I tried the search function, but couldn't find it - I know last year someone wrote is out beautifully and I didn't save it.
I feel like the way DCPS does final course grades, it gives the student a little bit of a bump so to speak. Lets say you have an honors course where the student gets the grades: B (3.0), B+ (3.3), A- (3.7), A (4.0) = this would average to a 3.5 - what does that show on the final report card? A-? which then converts back to a 3.7, and gets weighted to a 4.2 if its an honors class? Am I in the right ball park saying once the average of the 4 quarters for the year is calculated: 3.7 - 4.0 will show up as an A 3.3 - 3.69 Will show up as an A- 3.0 - 3.29 will show up as a B+ 2.7 - 2.99 will show up as a B What say you DCUM? |
Or do they add up the actual score in each class from each term- Term 1- 93%, Term 2- 96%, Term 3- 90%, Term 4- 98% = average of 94.25% which is an A.

You will find it if you search for it…it’s a numerical formula that is the same for each letter grade in the term.
I think A = 96 A- = maybe a 92? So as an example, one A and three A- divided by 4 = 93 = A for the year (93-100). |
Adv 1: 93 = 4.0
Adv 2: 90 = 3.7 Adv 3: 88 = 3.3 Adv 4: 97 = 4.0 Average the four GPA values: 4 + 4+ 3.7+3.3 = 15/4= 3.75 3.75 translates to an A for the final year grade. That A is on the official transcript. In the GPA for A= 4.0 but honors = 4.5 So a 4.5 is the weighted value included in the GPA. |
So I am right in that you convert the grade out of 100 to a 4.0 scale for each term, then average the 4 grades on the 4.0 scale and convert is back to a letter. Is this the right final conversion after you average? 3.7 - 4.0 will show up as an A 3.3 - 3.69 Will show up as an A- 3.0 - 3.29 will show up as a B+ 2.7 - 2.99 will show up as a B |
Not quite: 3.7 will show up as A-
So it’s Average >3.7 not inclusive is an A |
