Tell me your secrets. |
I'm going to answer this for my mother who is in her late 60s. She has a youthful personality and looks like a very good version of her age.
She cycles to work every day, about 10 miles each way, casually jogs a couple times per week, does yoga a couple times per week, eats a fairly healthy pescatarian diet and only drinks lightly/socially. Militant about SPF, never smoked, no cosmetic work other than lasers at the derm. Spends lots of time with her kids and grandkids, still works as a tenured prof but on a reduced schedule and travels to new places often. She's a generally optimistic person with a good attitude and sense of humor, but also has been fortunate not to have any major medical issues or trauma and has been UMC since childhood. In a relatively happy marriage of 40+ years. |
63, look late 40s to early 50s depending on sleep, mostly. For me, it's been good genes. Had super oily skin as a teen with zits, but now have minimal wrinkles, and still a bit oily. I do have sagging, but like Jane Seymour says, just smile--it's a natural facelift! I color my hair, otherwise it would be gray. Also, naturally slender, but work out regularly. |
The biggest challenge for me is parenting teens while being in peri-menopause.
I’m dealing with anxiety and general emotional challenges- which I think are def related to hormones. I hope aging will be more pleasant a few years from now! I am considering cutting back on beloved coffee and I’ve already cut out wine. I exercise daily. I’m just 55 so maybe a little young for your question |
I’m 10 years behind you but I can see this fully in my future. Have you considered HRT? I can just picture having mood swings while my opinionated (by then teen) DD goes off about issue d’jour. |
Do any estrogen creams or supplements work? I have seen derms recommend estrogen creams on the face…
What about soy? Or any other “mild and natural” alternatives to HRT? |
My aunt- 73 and looks and acts so much younger.
Her secret: extremely oily skin and never marrying and making her own money. |
I’m 72 and I felt great until six months ago. Now it’s been a combination of colds, back problems, stomach distress and throw in a couple of MOHS surgeries. |
I look like I’m 55 at age 67 — owe it all to 6X-week masturbating since age 7-8. |
Yawn. |
Maybe you have higher than average testosterone? Or are you male? |
You can come back from this! |
I have been on collagen peptides for a few years for a bone and joint disorder (genetic). One of the bonuses of them was it also had a a major impact to skin, hair and nails. My skin tightened out on my face - not like I had fillers but just softened out a lot of eyes and mouth area. I am not a supplement expert and my doctor suggested them as part of my treatment (I am mid 40s and have bones of - 65 year old they tell me) as I often break bones with minor falls Mine are part of the treatment and shipped to me but you can buy peptides over the counter too. |
My parents are 75 and look 60-65. This is what my mom does:
Exercise class for seniors 4-5x/week Cooks healthy meals with lots of fruits & vegetables Sleeps as much as she wants/needs Wears a hairstyle that doesn’t put a lot of stress on her hair (avoids thinning hair, but a lot of that is genetics) Basically they are living their best life in retirement. And at age 65, they were looking better than at age 50 (both working, raising 2 teenagers). |
I don't know whether it makes me look younger or not, but masturbating (particularly with a vibrator) is pretty essential to keeping things working well down there as you get older. It has made a huge difference for me in preventing dryness. |
