Amor Towles

Is this a love him or hate him type of author? If I thought Gentleman in Moscow was boring should I try or skip his other books?

I hated Gentlemen in Moscow, also thought it was boring but I loved Rules of Civility!

Oh, I also loved Lincoln Highway.

He overwrites unfortunately, but Rules of Civility was terrific! Moscow was a dud.

Loved them all

Rules of civility my favorite

I only read Gentleman in Moscow because someone went on and on about how great it was. I did not think it was good writing. At all. A good plot, sure. Good writing, no.

Loved Rules of Civility and Moscow. Lincoln Highway was only ok.

I think his biggest fans will be semi-intellectual guys who periodically watch Jeopardy and like to imagine that they could possibly win the show with the right set of categories.

I’m describing myself. I love all his writing. Just finished Table For Two.

Lincoln Highway is one of my favorite books I’ve read as an adult. But it’s very much a boy’s story. A girl reading it is like me picking up my wife’s Kristin Hannah novels. I enjoy them, but I feel like I’m not really in the club.

Moscow was not for me, but I've liked his other two novels. Didn't enjoy the short story collection that's recently been released.

I'm a female who loved The Lincoln Highway and also loves (most, not The Women) Kristin Hannah books.

Same. I have a friend who started with Lincoln Highway and loved it, so not sure if I just had unrealistic expectations once I got to it.

I love Amor Towles but, OP, just go with what suits you. I have plenty of writers I hate that other people love, and vice versa.
