Purchased swim lessons for the summer and swim club not sending receipt

Anonymous
I finally reached someone on Facebook and they said I need to wait until the pool opens for a receipt. I think that’s crazy. What if they come back and say I didn’t pay for the lessons? With every online purchase I always receive an auto email confirming purchase.

Unless you paid cash you will have some sort of record of the payment, but they should give you something to show exactly what you signed up for as well.

Our swim club is volunteer-run. I don't expect the same level of professionalism as from a for-profit company.

Was there no automated email confirmation or a "thank you, we've received your payment "? on the website?

What platform is this?

And just ask the FB person to confirm they've received your payment and that you're all set. Nbd.

Correct no confirmation at all and they want me to wait until after Memorial Day to give a receipt.

I get that but I need a receipt since it was an online purchase. I received no emails. No email confirming he’s signed up. No email confirming how much we paid or anything was paid. Nada

If it's an online payment then you should have a record from your credit card or bank showing amount and name of vendor/person you paid. Make sure to keep that record.

If this is your first go with kids' activities, you are in for a long parenting journey if you expect instant receipts for every enrollment.

Our old pool was a pretty small club and we couldn't even pay for private lessons online. You would email the instructors' manager and she would schedule your lessons, and then you would bring cash for the entire session to your first lesson.

Yes, it was unnerving to not have it confirmed and barely have anything in writing, but remember that a confirmation isn't magic. There are plenty of kids' activities we've signed up for through an actual portal with receipts and everything that were cancelled due to low enrollment, double booked, subject to schedule changes, overenrolled, etc.

The VERY worst that could possibly happen is that the lesson is double-booked when you arrive for week 1. And then you'll either get a discounted rate for shared lessons, you'll get an immediate refund, or they'll ask to accept credit for future lessons.

It will be ok. They'll open the office on Memorial Day weekend and someone will spend the weekend there getting everything ready for the season, and you'll get your receipt. Right now everything is going through a manager's laptop in their house or at their other job and they're more focused on hiring the last few lifeguards and instructors anyway.

Shut up. Any professional company that accepts money in exchange for services or goods would provide a receipt. I bet you let people walk all over constantly. Dumbass.

A non-profit swim club isn't a professional company. If this is British Swim School or Goldfish or something, then fine, a receipt would be a minimum expectation. The OP is going to encounter plenty of non-responsive but perfectly legit situations over the course of raising a child, and if every one is going to send her into a panic because it doesn't look like a retail transaction, the next two decades of her life will be both anxiety-inducing and disappointing.

Also, I can't believe you would call a stranger a dumb@$$ over swim lessons.

It’s weird but what can you do but wait? You will have a record of it on your credit card statement. Once the pool opens it’ll be easy to get in touch. Just let it be or risk earning a reputation!

Something tells me they already have one. Probably why no one is responding to them.
