Please dress me for these events

Fancy New England university events, not graduation but DH and I will likely be the youngest people there in our early 40s. Very wealthy crowd, we are comfortable but not very wealthy ourselves. I am 5/7, a size 6/8, long legs, fit but not skinny.

There is a museum tour and dinner the first night, then all day events and another dinner the second. Weather looks to be in the 50s which makes my plan to wear a nice spring dress for at least the first night not work very well. I don't have a suit except a boring black one and I don't think that is the right look.

Please give helpful suggestions if you want to comment, or feel free to ignore if you'd prefer to be snarky! Any links to specific outfits or options would be great, I can hopefully shop my closet but can also do rent the runway if needed.

Honestly, this sounds like the perfect opportunity to use a personal shopper. My husband did this once at the Nordstrom Tysons and they were super-helpful (and free).

There isn’t a Nordstrom where I live.

With the notion that it will be cool to cold and you’ll want to walk:

Or an interesting shirt dress:

But if it were me, I’d wear a relaxed suit in an interesting color and weird shoes:

I live in New England and have a lot of experience attending these events at boarding schools and universities because of my work. I can tell you it’s gonna be a pretty frumpy crowd and if the event is in spring, the weather is going to change a lot so you could be either roasting or freezing. As a general guideline, I would suggest a knee or midi length dress with a wrap or blazer you can add depending on the weather.
