Postpartum supplies?

Anonymous
How much of this do I need to order beforehand or can I just plan to take home from the hospital?

Perineal ice packs
Mesh undies
Dermaplast
Tucks pads
Pads
Belly binder
All the Frida mom stuff
Breastfeeding supplies

How size inclusive? I'm plus size and worried they won't have mesh undies to fit or a belly binder

Hospital gives you mesh underwear and ice packs. I don't know what frida mom stuff, tuck pads, dermaplasts are and I've had three children. I've never used a belly binder and don't really understand the purpose.

Get some pads and whatever breastfeeding supplies you want. For me, it was a feeding pillow, a breast pump, and storage bags.

Pp here. Just looked up the stuff I've never heard of and the hospital gives you the necessary subset. I never used most of it.

I gave birth at Sibley and they gave me the first five items, plus a peri bottle, but I preferred the Frida Mom version.

I skipped mesh panties. Just started with adult diapers (always discreet are great) and then after a week or so did maxi pads with granny panties.

You’ll need to get breastfeeding supplies, other than Lanolin which the hospital sent home.

Agree with PP for the most part, and I also have 3 kids. I brought back and used a few pairs of the mesh undies, ice packs, and the peri bottle from the hospital. Didn’t use any of the other stuff you mentioned, other than Tucks (just get one package). My mom made me a bunch of pads with aloe to stick in the freezer (before they had them in the store), and I only used a few. I’d honestly skip most of the stuff you listed and just get them after baby comes if you really need them.

Breastfeeding — a nursing pillow is great. Have a few nursing bras or tanks, pads for leaking, and nipple cream ready. I had these Lansinoh hot/cold packs that I ended up using in the first week of breastfeeding all my kids, but they aren’t necessary.

Hospital gives you everything you need. I bought extra maxi pads (you bleed for a few weeks), but that’s it.

The Fridamom stuff is just a bit nicer, especially their peri bottle and underwear. Like Fridamom witch hazel is a foam which is kind of nice but the liquid and pads you get from the hospital are also fine.

I delivered at Washington Hospital Center and ymmv by nurse but you could get all of these supplies there including lots to take home. Well, belly binder only for csection.
