I am 45, slim with a boyish shape. The shower is at a restaurant in Rehoboth (brunch). Thanks in advance! I am very casual in my dress and not a fashion person so I need advice on the entire outfit (purse and shoes too). I get cold easily and like to wear things I can throw a sweater or jacket over. |
Budget? |
These are clothes that will last you ten years (maybe not the J Crew pieces); they are quality over fast fashion quantity. That's a debate for another day though. Spending a lot of money on a quality piece (or pieces) is good for the environment and good for humans (usually indicates not made in a sweatshop but by people who are paid fair wages and treated well). Thinking about buying one dress or skirt of very high quality instead of 10 cheaper ones is a choice. And it's not crazy or insane to think of it as an investment and a way of life. |
Heh that's a false dichotomy. I didn't suggest OP buy ten dresses. I suggested she wear a dress she owns. |
No, but the jump to criticize without offering what the OP asked for - she wanted outfit recommendations (assuming she has nothing in her closet and is smart enough to have already looked). So your post was unhelpful. Post some links -- actually answer the request! |
Another tip - if you are in the DMV, I'd make an appointment with Betsy Fisher. They have great stylists and clothes.

Don't over think it OP. Do you have some nice pants and a colorful top? Or a dress with some spring colors in it?
It does not need to be super dressy. It's a daytime event in a beachy area. No one will be dressed formally. A casual dress with nice sandals is ok. Did you dress up for Easter? You could wear whatever you wore then. |
Post your suggestions then if you're so fashionable, or are you the one that posted the sad beige skirt/top? |
