Thousands of tiny orangish flying insects that are swarming around the front of our house. Clearly coming from boxwood bushes. I just tried to cut out affected branches and it was overwhelming. There is white fluff in the air and on the leaves too. How to treat? What to trim away?
We tried some spraying some neem oil. Seemed a little successful. There are still thousands more. Other ideas? Is this something we can do ourselves or should we be calling in a company who knows better? We’ve been letting them grow and grow without trimming much. Is there a particular shape or cut that will help us avoid this kind of infestation in the future? |
Go to your local garden center and ask them. |
Try pouring some Bioadvanced 3 in 1 at the base |
Systemic feeding. Only thing that works. |
The white stuff makes me think it may be psyllid… horticultural oil. Get out there in the evening this week while it’s chillier and do it. Don’t do it in the mornings because spraying it before sun can damage the foliage.
If it is mites, spray them all off with water. Then that evening come back and use insecticidal soap. |
I have a bunch of white stuff on my boxwoods too. Have tried spraying it off with water and also giving the shrubs a good pruning. Will see if that helps. Also may do neem oil or soap and water. |
Use horticultural oil, it’s psyllid - very bad this year due to last years drought. |
