Best PG Lottery or Public Middle School - ADHD Child

Anonymous
I'm trying to map out a school path for my 4th grade son who is a B/C student with ADHD. Our neighborhood middle school isn't going to be a good place for him. So, I'm trying to figure out what PG County middle school might offer him a program that will support his IEP well and provide a supportive environment. Anyone with an ADHD diagnosed child in middle school with a good middle school experience?

If you think he could be TAG identified, you should have him privately tested to see if he can pass the OLSAT at 81%.
Kenmoor MS does a great job with ADHD kids likely because they have a lot of people who are trained for the Autism program and pull any of them who are 2E into the TAG classrooms when appropriate.

Hopefully they have padded walls in the tag room. It sounds dangerous for a class to be hyped up on amphetamines and be bouncing off the walls playing tag when they should be learning.

Sorry OP- I also live in PGCPS and went private for middle and high school for my AuDHD kid. Kenmoor might work, but I think you might have a hard time getting your child TAG identified- i don’t know about now, but there use to be point system based on grades that went along with the OLSAT requirement. Not sure if it’s still there.

In retrospect, I should have moved to HCPS.

According to PGCPS "TAG identification is a multiple criteria process including cognitive ability test data, achievement data, teacher checklist of gifted characteristics, and report card grades." So there is a holistic review of the student prior to designation.
