What kind of job could this be? And why have a baby?

Anonymous
Someone on my local FB group is looking for a nanny for a baby, the hours will be 5am-9am and then again 4pm-7pm. Will they even see their baby? This makes me sad. I had parents who worked quite literally all of my waking hours and I felt so lonely.

Also, what kind of job would be split like this?

MYOB. Judging others is bad for your soul.

And there are plenty of jobs with split shifts. I wouldn't want one. But they exist.

Maybe the baby is in daycare the other hours.
I work 12s from 0600-1800. Not every day though. If I needed care it would be from 0515-1845
If I had to guess it’s a situation like this but there is other childcare for the regular hours. And it probably not every day. I see my kid more on this shift. She was only in daycare 10 days a month. I had her the other days because I was off.

Bus drivers often have split shifts. It could also be that the parents are shifting their own work schedules around so they’ll be home much of the day and only need care during those hours. If you’re interested in the job reach out to them—I’m sure you’ll find out why they need those hours.

A sahm who needs a few hours in the AM to squeeze in exercise time for herself and/or get older kids to school (ie navigate the morning rush w/o a clingy baby in tow)

Or spend 1:1 with said older siblings in the AM and after school/shuttling them to extracurriculars.

Sometimes husbands aren't helpful when it comes time to divide& conquer stuff so hence the need for a PT nanny.

My guess: one parent will be home but need a second pair of hands due to older kids/chores/disability of parent or child or sibling

If they have enough money to look for a nanny, maybe they are a sahn who just needs nanny support for the baby while taking care of older kids themselves.

So a woman goes to nursing school, is a fantastic ICU nurse, which by the way is a 12 hours shift, takes care of our most vulnerable and sick. Yet according to you she should not be able to have a child because of your childhood trauma.

Let that sink in.

You are the same people that didn't GAF that women were put out of work because of schools closures. Setting women back because it hurts your feeling that they dare have careers that help all of us.

Go pound sand.

Wtf? A sahn with a couple of other kids in school who need to be driven and picked up from school would account for the hours of the nanny. A wealthier person could afford this while poorer people would have to just take the baby with them.

It has nothing to do with school closures. Please get some help dealing with your anger.

Wow with the judgement! Many/most working parents require more than the 7 hrs per day of childcare that the poster is seeking. Yes it’s likely going to be tough to find someone willing to fill those job hours but having an odd schedule doesn’t make you unfit to have a baby.

New poster here
This is such a bizarre and hostile response. And I don't even get why you are connecting the pp with school closures.

Women should stay home and raise their children. Why pay someone else to do it? Makes zero sense.
