DD loved Harry Potter. Read it over and over. Loved Land of Stories. Loved Telgemeier and Stuart Gibbs Finjungle books, etc. varied a d non-stop reader. Until she stopped. Recently bought her two biographies of sports players for her sport and she read them immediately. I regularly ask if she wants to go to the book store and she declines. So, I asked if she thought she would start reading again or if she has too much schoolwork. She said there aren’t any good books. I think she has outgrown what she used to read and isn’t interested in YA yet.
Any good suggestions to fill the gap? (Her sibling was interested in YA non-fiction which helped keep him reading longer.). But, other than the sports books, are really isn’t.) |
Same boat here but with DS. No interest in YA as it’s too much “feelings”. Hunger games has been … meh. I’m looking to stuff like mythology, non fiction histories, and YA fantasy. I’d be happy to take recommendations in those genres. |
OP to PP. Maybe try the YA version of Unbroken. Also, The Boys Who Challenged Hitler. Mine DS also liked the Dan Brown Books. |
My 15 year old really Liked The Agathas and I’ll Give You the Sun. |

To be honest, she might not have a lot of time because of school, but she should stop by her school’s library and ask for suggestions. Seriously.

DS also hates anything too emotional. He has enjoyed: Maze Runner series Gone series Ready Player One Dune Eragon series |
OP are you asking so you can surprise her as a gift? I just think by 15 she should be choosing her own books. Take her to the library or Politics & Prose and let her browse. |
I posted my list of suggestions above, but I suspect you would get more recommendations if you posted this in the Tweens and Teens forum. |
Garth Nix Sabriel books might appeal |
