Girls' uniforms at school- how old for jumpers?

Anonymous
(I think some schools call them pinafores, but we call them jumpers in the dress sense, not the British sense)

This is a really idle wondering/low-stakes question- I don't have a hidden agenda.

In what grade do girls at your school stop wearing jumpers if they're allowed as part of the uniform? At my DD's school they are allowed through 4th grade. Traditionally, only 3rd grade and younger was willing to wear jumpers but this year they're very popular among 4th graders. Skirts are also an option for all grades which I know isn't typical of all schools.

Ours also allows them though 4th. Skirts continue to be an option for all grades.

My daughter wore them through 2nd gr. Won’t wear them any more. Just skirts.

Our school uses the jumper as the uniform through 4th. 5th & up wears a skirt.

I think there is a pants option throughout (and I know there is at the middle/hs level), but almost no one wears them.

Jumpers are our dress uniform through 5th. On regular uniform days most girls wear them through second or third, although my daughter wore them all through fourth, too. They transition to skirts. Dress uniform starting in sixth is skirt with blazer.

Jumpers are uniform at Holton until after 6th grade where the students happily switch to a skirt.

Potomac is jumpers until 6th

They switch to skirts in 7.

Potomac doesn't have uniforms at all, does it?

I think most girls stop wearing them at 3rd or 4th at our school. I think a lot of families buy them for K, will update for size in 2nd, and then girls wear that one until it's too short. Most families aren't sizing up again at that point.

Our school has broader uniform choices though-- girls can wear pants or shorts with dress shirts or polos if they want, and the school has branded tees and sweatshirts with the school logo that are permitted on Fridays and during spirit weeks, which can be worn with pants, shorts, or skirts (or I guess the jumpers though I haven't seen that).

Jumpers through 5th at our school, then skirts.

No uniform k-3, 9-12; yes uniform 4-8

Our k-8 school in CA allowed jumpers and skirts the whole way through which I liked--not sure why school needs to micromanage uniforms to a higher level. Some older girls preferred jumpers as they are puberty friendly (conceal bloating, growing chests, etc.). To be very clear--I'm not saying puberty changes need to be concealed, but MS girls sometimes prefer them.
