They should consider joining the DMV’s ONLY Youth Gaming Crew - Crew 98!

Open Houses April 21, and 28!

(To your youth) Want to play (or learn) Magic: the Gathering or other collectible card games? Want to play in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign where you help create and shape the world you play in? Learn about other role-playing games? Find others who love board games as much as you do and play Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and others? Learn leadership skills and share your love of gaming with younger kids? Be friends with DC Young Women and Men who loving gaming as much as you do? Crew 98 is for You. We meet three Sundays each month at Cleveland Park Library near the Cleveland Park METRO station.

Best of all, this is totally FREE!!!

Crew 98 is a unique gaming opportunity in DC. Organized by adults passionate about gaming but run by youth. Venturing is a subset of Scouts BSA (formerly the Boy Scouts of America, but now co-ed). This means not only do youth organize and run their gaming events, but they can have leadership opportunities to share their gaming passion with others, earning community service hours (that some schools require to graduate), improving speaking and leadership skills, and doing all this on an activity that can proudly be listed as a premier extracurricular activity on college applications.

What You Can Expect in 12 Months: If you join us and fully participate you will have at least three times a month an opportunity to play collectible card games, role-playing games, and board games. You are welcome to come only for the games and leave it at that! But if you want more and want to really lead, you can learn core leadership skills like the EDGE method of instruction, help plan out gaming opportunities, and shape the very future of the crew.

What You Can Expect in the Following 24+ Months: The crew aims to not only continue with active, monthly gaming but build into some really new, bold gaming and leadership opportunities. – Leading teaching gaming to older elementary school kids. – Planning overnight outings for bigger gaming activities (think epic D&D sessions and playing those long, complex board games). – Opportunities for STEM activities and awards. – Planning and leading a Youth-only gaming “Con” in DC!

You Are Welcome: Gaming Crew 98 is open to youth of all genders ages 14 and up (or 13 and finishing 8th grade). We welcome all youth from all backgrounds with a fundamental principle of celebrating diversity, promoting active inclusion, and fostering a sense of true belonging. Gaming unites us all! We are your people!

Your Family is Welcome: Your parents or caring adults are welcome to participate in Crew 98 as committee members or occasional chaperones, and if they love gaming, can participate as well! They will enjoy themselves providing service in ways that do not overshadow the youth leading the adventure.

Join Us in April -- It’s simple! Just attend an open house, sign up, and get some sweet Crew 98 swag!

Step One: Attend An Open House in April with a parent or trusted adult. There are three dates to pick from (See list at bottom). Talk to one of our adults, or youth members.
