therapeutic residential summer camps for elementary age student

Does this exist? I think my child would benefit from a program, but needs more than camp, needs professionals due to suicidal ideations. Summer would be perfect because it feels "normal" to go away, and other special needs camps won't take child due to suicidal ideations

My son spent 6 weeks at Wediko for the their summer program. He was 11. This was a few years ago. The in the moment therapy, having to do non preferred tasks, and still having the waterfront, basketball, rock wall, etc made if for a fun--ish summer.

From a therapeutic perspective, his local therapist was pleased with the progress he made over the summer--learning to express his feelings appropriately, learning how to handle frustrations, learning how to handle disappointment, etc. They sent a formal report to his therapist at the end of the summer.

Wediko is in NH and costs about $20K for the 6 weeks. I don't know if they will take a child with SI. That might be a case for in patient.

Look at camp starfish.

I don’t think *any* sleep away camp (even therapeutic) is going to take a kid with active SI. Can you imagine the liability? They’re not set up for that.

Wediko definitely has kids with suicidal ideation. I assume many/most therapeutic programs would take a child with ideation. If there is intent and planning, that's very different.
