Same or different IEP teachers at school for multiple kids

Anonymous
My youngest kid is going to public K in the fall. Both my oldest & youngest kids have IEP. They both need speech therapiat & special educator hours, but their goals are quite different. We have 2 speech therapists & probably 2-3 special educators in the elementary school. From your experience, is it better to have different IEP speech therapist or special educator for 2 children at each school year? Does it matter or not?

I have a bad habit and I am not sure why I can't help needing to mention the other kid (sibling) when I attend a kid's evaluation or doctor appointment when they mention developmental progress or goals. One has a lot of diagnosis , and one has zero diagnosis. I think I want they pay attention to the zero diagnosis kid (youngest onel because they are siblings. I have not pursued many evaluation for my youngest child because I am mentally exhausted and I have changed to wait & see approach.

It's not up to you. They will assign a special ed teacher based on scheduling and other school needs.

How does your child have an IEP without a diagnosis at this age?

Not OP. Services are not tied to diagnosis.

This is the answer. You don't get a choice. They make assignments based on caseloads, schedules, and a ton of other moving parts. It's not a private clinic.

Agree - and sometimes it’s also tied to grade level, which is nice because the special educator/specialist follows the kid from one grade to the next within a school.

+1 It's enough for students to be "perceived" as having a disability. They don't have to have a diagnosis.

You want the educator that’s best for your child.
