And it wouldn't show up in the search results...

"Taking a hand-on approach to getting more dads involved in education"

You owe me a new keyboard.

Wasn't me. It was my volunteer. I promise.

Well, this is rich. My husband was once a NY republican, but is now a DC Democrat. Today he received the following from the esteemed candidate. She sure does love that slogan....In your dreams, sister.

FROM THE DESK OF ASHLEY CARTER
"Smarter with Carter"

Dear Fellow Republican:
My name is Ashley Carter and I am running to serve on the DC State Board of Education as the At-Large Member. As a Republican, I have spent my career working for right-leaning causes like parental choice in education and would like to see a Republican elected in DC citywide. I write to you to humbly ask for your vote to make me the second Republican ever elected to the DC State Board of Education.......

blah, blah, blah.

Again, please remember to VOTE SMARTER WITH CARTER!

Anonymous wrote:LOL, this thread is ridiculous. Because of some irrelevant comments from Carter's account people here are going to vote for a Social Justice Warrior who changed the health education standards to get the schools to start teaching transgenderism? How about we focus on the policy issues rather focusing on comments that have no bearing on how the schools are run.

I agree. How about electing someone who recently went through the DC public school system and knows first hand what DC students are going through. Someone like Tony Donaldson.

But what does his neck look like?

Agreed. Until CNN does a neck-by-neck comparison, I can't make an informed choice.

All you need to know about Carter is found in some google searches. She is a fringe R candidate being funded by other fringe R organizations/individuals.

I'm not convinced that Lord isn't just a yes person after many years on the Board. Not to mention as a charter parent, I don't feel that she is so warm to us. I'll take warm. Not cold.

And I'm all for an upstart 19 year old, but I also want someone who grasps not just the reality but policy issues. So maybe one of us needs to run next go around.

Emphasis added because people on DCUM in general refuse to acknowledge that "school choice" is a right-wing strawman.

I feel like we've beaten the Ashley Carter issue to death.

Let's at least do it more creatively. Haikus or rhyming poems please.

If you're still lurking...
Go tell your rogue volunteer
I'm with Turkey Neck

I am for charters
But not funded by Jesus

It is rich, especially as the office is non-partisan. Explicitly campaigning as a member of a particular party is at least unseemly, and might cross legal lines. Smarter with Carter.

Party over for Carter. She used my a picture of my friend's kid in her mailer without the parent's permission. Where's the best place to report this? OSSE? DCBOEE?
