this seems sooooo early. Bethesda 2010 tryouts are mid-April, for example (but, of course, players come to trainings throughout the winter/spring). I doubt the final roster is totally set. I would bet that they'll try to set 14-15 slots, and leave 4-8 open depending on roster size. Also, offers out doesn't mean offers accepted. I hope the top players and their parents will see through the 48-hour acceptance nonsense and realize they have options all over the region. The talent pool is only so deep and coaches of other teams will always make room. |
Also curious. |
Some girls got invited back is what I heard. |
Do ECNL coaches wait for players trying to make MLSN teams? What do those kids do if they don’t make MLSN?
What happens when top talent leaves top ECNL teams for MLSN in April and May and their next choices have accepted and paid at another ECNL club? Can you move from ECNL to other ECNL team? I realize you would be pissing off the current team and coach. |
It's a chess match. If you truly want what is best for your kid, you just play the game along with these clubs. In terms of Bethesda having tryouts - very few kids get pulled into Bethesda through the traditional tryout model. You are right that Arlington will probably find a spot for a truly exceptional player come May. But at that point, you're going to have to be significantly better than the kids they've offered. They have turned down several MLSN players in the area, so I wouldn't expect spots to be remaining for just anyone to show up. |
You can argue Clubs have no loyalty to kids what do you owe them. You have to do what’s best for your kid and I get that, I’ve said that. Personally I don’t think teaching my kid to back out of a contract or screw over other kids is doing what’s best for them. Soccer is a small part of trying to raise a good human being. It’s a risk, personally I’d take the best offer given without waiting. If the MLSNEXT team really wanted you they wouldn’t wait. But we’re all on this board so we’re probably a little shady anyway. |
The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. |
the current team? Doesn’t need help |
Is the roster for 2011b set? |
Mine did, see you at practice! |
Doesn't matter. Someone got that invite! |
Seems they do need help |
haha, troll |
Is it normal to not hear anything back after an ID session? DS was asked back for second look, but never heard anything again after that. It's been 2 weeks. |
It's not a good sign, for sure. But it's been enough time for you to reach out and ask if they would like to see DS again or if the roster is mainly established. |
