Dog Collar Recs

What are your favorites? Looking for something that won’t smell when wet, has a name plate, and … I will admit… is fashionable. I have a female Wemaraner mix, so obviously a gray dog.

Would love to hear your recs for my active canine fashionista! I would spend up to around $50-60 total which seems like a lot to me, her current one was about $30 but it didn’t hold up well.

Thank you.

I love my dog’s velvet collar from 2 Hounds Design, but it doesn’t have a nameplate.

Many other colors available. You can personalize with a nameplate and they aren't fabric so they don't get stinky.

I like the Orvis collars that allow you to embroider your dog's name and your phone number. We have several and have never switched to another brand bc they're so sturdy.

I love this one, in pink for my princess Frenchie https://www.chewy.com/gotags-adjustable-nameplate/dp/303212

Nylon is the easiest care, get two and put them in the washing machine periodically. I put them in with the leash and the “dog towels” which helps the metal parts not bang around so much. They come out squeaky clean and not smelly. I’ve done this with embroidered ones and with the flat metal tags.

Look for biothane for "cheap and won't smell when wet". I have purchased several off etsy that way. People can bedazzle them or use HT vinyl on them to customize them.

Leather is also good, but will be way over your price range for the good stuff that will hold up/not stink.

My dogs have been wearing their leather collars from this Etsy seller for 8 and 12 years. Haven’t bought one in years obviously, but I would trust the craftsmanship and quality is still good. https://www.etsy.com/shop/donwillett?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=172650740&from_page=listing

I've gotten all of my dog's collars and leashes from here. They wash well.

Don’t leather collars smell?

IME, leather collars don't smell, if they're tanned properly. The ones made of webbing do, and no amount of washing seems to help.

My dogs have these beaded collars. They're beautiful thick leather, and much sturdier than you'd think. The ones we have are several years old, and haven't lost any beads.

These look similar, but I don't know if the quality is as good:
