Son is transferring into an independent high school in a different NE city.
According to their website, grades are assigned (doesn’t look like many get below a B) but the school doesn’t calculate a GPA on the transcript. When my older son graduated from public high school, the school just sent the transcript with grades and GPA calculated. I assume there is an advantage to this or they wouldn’t be doing it, right? Thanks for any insight |
Not a big deal either way. Admissions will just calculate based on their scale and the grades provided. |
Yes it is an advantage. More importantly is the scale they use ie: is an A a 90 and above or a 94 and above. Kids could have all A's at one school with 90 and above and A- at another with 90. |
Doesn’t matter if no GPA on transcript. Sidwell doesn’t put on on transcript either. |
It doesnt matter. |
My son’s independent school doesn’t put the GPA on the transcript, either. |
Many schools are tinkering with their grading scales, GPAs, etc to artifically boost student grades and college prospects.
My DS old school used to count a 90-91 as a B+ and 92-93 as an A- In their revamped grading scale, a 90-94 is an A and 95 is an A+ They even got rid of the minus grades (A-, B-, C-, etc.) |
I have never seen a B+ be 90-91. Does not sound accurate to me. They are wise to change their grading. That A goes in as a 4.0 when calculated. |
