I am only 45 and I feel so nostalgic for the past, like 90s, early 2000s. I miss the pre-internet everything/social media days, when job hours were better defined, there was less information. Life seems like it was so much simpler, and I feel so sad my kids will never know this sort of life without tech everything. |
I can assure you that your kids would rather stay in their time stream. Sure, many things are different, but some things are better. |
Mid-life crisis?

I like to go back and listen to episodes of This American Life from before 9/11. |
OP, I get it. I feel the same but not any sadness re: the kids growing up. Your experience growing up looked nothing like your Mother or Grandmother's. |
There are pros and cons to everything in life. Yet, I sometimes look back in nostalgia at the pre-internet age, too. Everyone had to watch the same thing on tv! In old episodes of the Brady Bunch no one had a computer or tv in their bedroom! I read From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and other stories by E.L. Konigsburg with my younger son and was awash in a comforting feeling of a past without digital distractions. Alas, that was then and this is now and there's not much we can do about it! |
I sometimes feel that way, but am mostly happy to be able to text my kids when they’re at school, look things up, etc. |
