First time trying out on the girls’ side. Curious how many decisions are made at tryouts or if teams were largely set in Futures. |
Most decisions are made at the tryout. Look at the field your kid is on and see if other players around her are good and you could guess if your kid will make it and which team she will likely make. |
Boys tryouts looked strong. A lot of boys from different clubs trying out. Some were very good and clearly played up with 2015 teams this year. It’s going to be competitive.
|
Won’t matter in a few years when all the strongest boys move to MLS Next. Same problem that plagues other ECNL clubs. |
My DD was told to attend the 6:30-7:45 tryout next Sunday. What’s the difference between the earlier/late time? |
At U9, kids are all over the place. My DD (currently a U14 ECNL starter) barely made a team at that age.
Don’t read too much into team placement. |
6:30 time slot appears to be for the more competitive players trying for the top teams. |
I believe this is accurate. |
Do you think that means everyone in the 6:30 tryout will make one of the teams? If you’re in the 5pm tryout, is there no hope? |
No. No matter what time your kid goes tell them to be a team player, be verbal, pass the ball, and run to get the ball that goes out of bounce. The shows that you were coachable, a team player and not a ball hog. |

Completely agree- team placement at U9 means nothing. They don't know the players well and can't really guess who will develop well over the next year. Tell your kids to have fun and don't put pressure on them. |
How did the second day look? Anyone attend? |
Any idea when kids will start hearing? |
