Any k-8's still have openings for this coming fall? Have a friend moving to the DMV unexpectedly this summer, so they weren't looking at schools during the app period, and now they are hoping to find private options that still have space. 2nd and 6th. |
Where in this area are they moving to? I'm sure there are K-8s with spots, but I doubt they want a school in Bethesda if they are living in Alexandria or vice versa. |
There's no downside to calling any school (that appeals to them) within reasonable travel distance. Even schools that get a zillion apps may be, saying, looking for more 2nd grade boys and have a current wait list that is mostly girls.
Anther consideration: the 6th grader could look at schools that start in 6th, so the whole class will be new (and maybe more flexibility for spaces). They can call Burke (6-12), which is super close to Sheridan (K-8) and Aidan (K-6), for example, or call NPS (K-5), which is en route to Field (6-12), etc. I'd also call SSSAS and ACDS if they're in Virginia. |
OP here - either VA or MD (working in DC, so a possibility for DC too). |
Christ Episcopal has openings in some grades. I think their 2nd and 6th have space. |
sheridan always has opening |
Montessori of Northern VA might have openings. |
Nope, they always have a waitlist. |
Sycamore in Rosslyn has rolling admissions for 5-12, very close to Rosslyn metro and bus lines. |
Try Norwood |
Are they currently in private school? Sometimes an out of town private can call admissions in the new city and help with a transition. |
Word of Life Christian Academy in Springfield |
Green Acres often has openings. |
Try st. Mary’s in rockville |
That’s still a little too vague. If you live in Arlington, for example, and work in DC, you’re not going to want to go all the way up to the several Rockville schools suggested in this thread! |
