Spotify

I am a techidiot. I have an iPhone but not tech savvy. I need someone who really knows Spotify. My teen is on the phone way too much and I’m blocking it at 10pm. She needs music to sleep and wants me to allow Spotify only when the rest of the phone is blocked. But can she watch videos on Spotify? If so, that defeats the goal of blocking her from mindlessly scrolling through YouTube.

I'm also not super techy, but I dont think spotify does videos. Podcasts yes, if thats an issue.

Maybe you could get an old school alarm clock that plays the radio?

No cannot watch videos per se on Spotify, but sometimes there are short music videos.

I ended up putting an Echo Dot in my kids room that can connect to her airpods. She can play per spotify playlist on the Dot. My kid tried to pull that on me too- can't sleep without music.

Dumb question but if the Spotify app is on phone, how does it play on Alexa without accessing it on the phone.

download the Alexa app and can connect to different music services. You just sign in with your username and password. Then you control Alexa using your voice, not phone.

In parental controls on an iPhone, you can choose which apps are accessible during downtime.

^ just to clarify during the initial set up you enter your username and password and connect your account so that it can be played on Alexa. Then going forward your daughter just needs to say play XYZ Spotify playlist and it does it without her needing to use her phone.

Yes, but she’s trying to figure out how to let her daughter play music to go to sleep without being on other apps on her phone that keep her up. She was trying to make sure that Spotify doesn’t have videos, etc. that she could access while saying she was just listening to music.

Yes exactly thanks. And my child is autistic so speaking to Alexa when tired is difficult so she really wants this one app on her phone.
